Plan A Link - 6 tips on how to get more visitors to your website - SEO Medway / Maidstone
So you have your website build by your web designer, but how do you get more traffic & customers?

Social Media

This has to be the fastest way to get traffic to your website. Advertise on social media to let people know your content is now online for them to see! – Notice I said content here and not product. People don’t want to be sold to, they want to read interesting content that is related to them.

Blogging

Carrying over from the first tip, blogging. Blogging is a great way to create content, as well as republish others content in your own form. Republishing content is a very viable use for a blog. Instead of creating content that MAY go viral, why not rewrite content that is proved and tested to go viral? A blog also gives you a quick and easy access to communicate directly with your customers, allowing your website to become your microphone.

SEO or Search engine optimization

This is the technic on how you get your website to the top of Google, on ranking keywords so that you are right in front of the customer when they have decided to purchase. The internet without search engines, would not be a user friendly experience. Therefore search engines are used by everyone, even YouTube is a kind of search engine. Google averages about 1.2 trillion searches per year. This equates to about 3.5 billion searches per day. If you make a blog post that goes viral, that is 3.5 billion potential customers that may come to your website.

Interact

This could be through social media or your blog comments, but you want to make sure you interact with your visitors so that they feel welcomed and respected. Also having some kind of live chat system will also make the customer feel at home. People are used to walking in to a bricks and mortar shops and always having someone there to ask if they need help. This is the same kind of principle, but on a website. This may turn them into a returning visitor, as they always feel like they are welcome to return.

Target your content

This goes back to the viral marketing technique I was talking about earlier. Now sometimes you will need to adjust your content slightly (such as blog posts) to get them to go viral and become shared a lot of social media. Pictures and annotations are the most shared resource on the web. That being said, put a few pictures on your blog posts, or even hunt down your favourite infographic relating to your business. A lot of the top companies on Google use infographics to post blogs 2-3 times a day! Make sure, if you are going to write your own blog posts to: one, stay on topic and two, make the title meaningful. The title will be the first thing people see. If you either make the title boring, or make the title inaccurate to attract views, people will see right through it. First impressions last! If they are visiting your website for the first time and they come across any mistrustful content, they will probably never come back.

Help in online forums and communities

Participate in online forums and communities where your audience hangs out. This will help you with back link producing and help set you up as a valued person of the community. It also gives you the opportunity to give back to the community the knowledge you know and also learn a thing or two. This technique is pretty valuable. Most businesses know this trick. Have you ever walked into your local supermarket and been offered “free” taster food/drink. This is the technique I’m talking about. You feel obliged to buy once you have something for free. Although not having the pressure of being face to face with someone, this technique will still work online. If you give someone something for free, most people will want to help you by giving something back. As such, this will draw people to your website, and maybe even purchase something.
